A series of projects in collaboration with artist Linda Schumann and students from Blind Inc.
Working with blind adults studying life skills at Blind Inc., we led a workshop in which the students created tactile collages, using texture as the primary tool to create composition.
In a second project, inspired by our conversations and experiences, Linda and I concepted and executed an instrument. Based on the technology of a gramophone, we used a record needle to play the sounds of different textures. Each key is covered in a texture corresponding to its sound, creating the experience of both feeling and hearing texture.
